This year’s tenth edition opened in Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum on June 26th an American orchestra from Pittsburgh, Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras. The evening’s program commenced with Antonín Dvořák’s Carnival Overture, followed by Camille Saint-Saëns’ Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah, and Peter Boyer’s Elegy for Orchestra, with Pierce Cook conducting. After the intermission, Bedřich Smetana’s “The Moldau” was performed, and the night culminated with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony in F minor.
The second concert of the series belonged to the Mira Costa Orchestra from California. Under the direction of Peter Park, the Mira Costa Orchestras have been invited numerous times to
present at internationally renowned venues such as Beijing Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The orchestra performed works by Jean Sibelius, Antonín Dvořák, Pablo de Sarasate, Kevin Tran and Carl Maria von Weber in Prague’s Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum on June 30th.
The third concert of the series will conclude on October 17 in the Church of Sts. Simon and Jude by the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra from Switzerland, one of the best youth symphony orchestras in Europe. Under the baton of David Bruchez-Lalli compositions by Antonín Dvořák, Joseph Lauber, and Frank Martin will be performed.
